We took a walk down in Shockoe Bottom on Saturday. The mating season for the local herons recently started so we wanted to check out the action. There was an island just off the path, under the train tracks with a handful of nests in the trees.
We got there just before a few other people showed up and they were still flying around a bit. They say the eggs will hatch around the end of March so we may go back for that as well.
The rest are from the path to see the island
